Astralis is a team that has undoubtedly left the biggest mark on the international CS:GO scene in recent years. The Danes repeatedly made their mark on the pages of history, winning, among others, three Majors in a row or reaching for the triumph in the first installment of the Intel Grand Slam series.

And now the time has come for the next stage of evolution — the Scandinavian formation has announced that in the beginning of July its ranks will be joined by Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, currently representing FunPlus Phoenix. Thus, for the first time in the CS:GO era, one of the top teams in the world will build their game around a permanent 6-person squad.

The general public learned about the interest of Astralis in es3tag’s services yesterday, when journalists from HLTV.org and 1pv.fr shared their reports with the world. The transfer of a 24-year-old is not a surprise, so you can talk about surprise in the context of the date of Hansen’s move to a new formation. The Dane will change club colors only on July 1, when the contract binding him with Heroic expires — at least so says Nikolaj Nyholm, CEO of Astralis Group. This is the result of a disagreement between the organizations regarding the transfer amount.

Therefore, the backstage and the sales status of the Heroic’s CS:GO division to FunPlus Phoenix is still a puzzling issue. We remind you that the Chinese organization recently announced the successful finalization of negotiations, and the Danes debuted in its colors during the first stage of Flashpoint. Heroic social channels, however, have been silent since March 10, and media news circulating on the network suggests that, in fact, not all formalities have been done to the last button. What future awaits both organizations? For the meanwhile, FunPlus has withdrawn from the competition.

In this situation, it seems that at least in the near futureAstralis will appear with the same lineup known to us from recent weeks. es3tag and company are currently in Los Angeles, and therefore, having the coronavirus pandemic in mind, any changes might be unlikely. It is worth mentioning, however, that according to Danish journalists, Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen has already found himself in the crosshairs of the 15th world team, currently still representing Heroic.

At the beginning of July, the composition of Astralis will look like this:

  • Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz
  • Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen
  • Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth
  • Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander
  • Emil “Magisk” Reif
  • Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
  • Danny “zonic” Sørensen – coach
