Today’s struggle in the League of Legends European Championship did not reveal the first participant in the playoffs, but there was still something to hang the eye on. Most Saturday meetings had more or less an influence on the situation on the table, especially to the top of the ladder. Of course, the most interesting is G2 Esports taking the leader’s chair on its own, but that’s not all that happened today.
Let’s start from the bottom of the list, because the first matches were played between teams from these regions. FC Schalke 04 turned out to be better in the direct fight for the eighth place, thanks to which the Royal Blues overtook SK Gaming for the first time this season. However, this does not have a major impact on the list of potential play-off participants, because both S04 and SK said goodbye to the rest of the chances to advance to the knockout stage yesterday.
The same applies to the last team in the table, Vitality, who today had to recognize the superiority of Excel Esports. For fans of those under the care of a British organization, this means an increase in the chances of breaking into the top six with a tape roll, especially after the failure of MAD Lions on Saturday.
The Lions didn’t have much chance in the clash with Rogue, so they had to say goodbye to the fifth place and at the moment they are on the verge of falling out of the bonus zone with promotion to play-offs. In turn, the team of Kacper “Inspired” Straw and Oskar “Vander” Bogdan advanced in the ranking to the fourth position, which in theory is shared with Misfits Gaming. In theory, because according to the first rule of tie-breaks, Rogue is higher in the ranking due to a better balance of direct matches.
As for the podium, its lowest grade is currently unfilled. In the second place, Origen and Fnatic, which not only have the same balance of wins, but also shared points in direct clashes. The leader’s chair belongs to G2 Esports, which can sit quite comfortably in it. Not only that, Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and the company have an advantage over Fnatic and Origen, they have won all four clashes against these formations.
We will have to wait until next Friday for the next LEC 2020 Spring Split matches.
